Denne kvelden er bluegrass på Herr Nilsen. Først ut er et ganske nytt old-time bluegrassband; The Backwoods, før Robert Moses & the Harmony Crusaders entrer scenen.

The Backwoods

Vokalist og gitarist Signe Salvesen og banjoist Gard Gulseth Berge utgjør den akustiske duoen som går tilbake til utgangspunktet for countrymusikken. The Backwoods kommer fra Skien og formet duoen etter mange inspirerende somre på bluegrassfestivaler og lengre opphold i Appalachene, hvor låtmaterialet deres oppstod på 1800-tallet. Alt fra de tragiske «murder ballads», som låta«Omie Wise»,til den mere humørfylte « I would not marry an old man», utgjør eksempler på hva The Backwoods´ har med på settlista.

Robert Moses and the Harmony Crusaders perform original music in the

style of early rock and roll and country blues. (Neil Young, Townes
Van Zandt, John Lennon, Hank Williams, Eddie Cochran and the Cherokee
Nation). Robert, who grew up on the city of Chicago's west side,
focuses on writing well crafted, genuine songs, combining simplicity
with emotional impact. Through many years of playing in bands in the
US, he has come to distill his music and approach into something
essential, rhythmic and direct.

Robert has put together an all-star band for the concert, and they are
also appearing on the EP the band is recording at the moment at Ingar
Helgesen Studios.
